WHO has released the document "Preventing injuries and violence: a guide for ministries of health" (download). The document sets out the role of ministries of health in the prevention and management of injuries and violence and the development of effective injury and violence prevention programmes.

Ethical and Safety Recommendations for Researching, Documenting and Monitoring Sexual Violence in Emergencies
The Department of Gender, Women and Health has released the document "Ethical and Safety Recommendations for Researching, Documenting and Monitoring Sexual Violence in Emergencies" (download). This document follows on a 2006 Expert Consultation on Ethical, Safety and Methodological Issues in Researching, Monitoring and Documenting Sexual Violence in Emergencies. The document addresses the unique set of challenges when collecting and using information about sexual violence and provides much needed guidance in the area of ethical and safety guidelines specific to collection of information about sexual violence in emergencies.

Violence Prevention Alliance Working Group on Youth Violence, Alcohol and Nightlife Fact Sheets
The Violence Prevention Alliance Working Group on Youth Violence, Alcohol, and Nightlife led by Dr Mark Bellis at Liverpool John Moores University released the second and third fact sheets on the topic of youth violence, alcohol and nightlife.

Fact Sheet 2: the role of door staff in violence prevention discusses the role of door staff in violence prevention in nightlife environments and outlines measures being undertaken in various countries to strengthen this role.

Fact Sheet 3: late night transport discusses the importance of late night transport in violence prevention and outlines measures being undertaken in various countries to increase the availability and safety of transport in nightlife environments.
