European Disaster Disability Network

Background information

The creation of this informed network on persons with disabilities in case of disasters with an established mechanism for electronic information exchange is foreseen as one of the activities of the two EC co-funded projects, "Rescuing Injured Disabled Persons in case of disaster - Civil protection's challenge in the challenge" (n. 07.030601/2005/423643/SUB/A5) and "Flooding: Response & simulation Schemes for Safety of Disabled" (n. 07.030601/2006/448102/SUB/A3).

Aim of the network

The main objective is building a solid platform for dialogue and exchange of information and knowledge amongst stakeholders interested in issues relating to disability and disaster and strengthening the dialogue between experts, researchers, public officers involved in the fields of emergency and disability and existing networks on the subject.
