Best Practices in Prevention of Skiing Accidents in Europe: The New Challenge

Despite the increasing relevance of the phenomenon of skiing and snowboarding accidents there is a general lack of coordination regarding prevention measures within and between the European countries.

Objectives

Air rescue

Overall objective of the project is to provide the Community with recommendations on how to improve and harmonize prevention measure.

The final aim is to decrease the number, the morbidity and the mortality of skiing and snowboarding accidents and, as a consequence, to reduce the social and economic costs related to this type of injuries.

The specific aims of BePraSA are:

  1. To collect and analyse data regarding injury and prevention measures from a selection of the most important ski spots in Europe;
  2. To provide the Community with recommendations on best prevention practices;
  3. To disseminate results through a network of experts and associations;
  4. To promote the harmonisation of prevention measures throughout Europe.
